Metal shipbuilding

The second important field ofconcern of our working activitiesafter the composite shipbuilding is aproduction of metallic vessels. What distinguishes us among others is alarge experience as well as a non standard creative way of solving problems set by the clients of ours. Agood example of such an approach isa building of the ship repairing dockfor the Caspian steam navigation of Azerbaijan.

Generally, the docks are made of metaland assigned to serve for survey ofdefects and repairing of other ships.The self-repairing dock is able to examine and repair itself. Selfrepairgoes the following way: one of thepontoons is shot off and gets installedin the same dock – it is repaired ifnecessary and put back in its place. Such dock for any ordering customeris a cost-cutting of his or her.

Our ship yard permits us to build thedock almost of unlimited length with amaximum width 140 metres. A naturallimiter being flood gates through whichthe dock goes to the destination point.

So, the maximum width of the Kotchetovskiy floodgates (located on the Don river) is 17.8 metres, thusan engineering solution was required for passinga boat of 39 metres in width through a lock. And it was found. The dock consists of the two specialmodules which are transported separately andjointed in-place yet. Fitting was rather difficult tofind a way of joining separate modules because a float welding without providing a lineal elastic lineof the ship is prohibited, although this task wasdecided still.
