The dock is designated for docking of ships with light-ship up to 8000 tons to inspect and repair the bottom.

The dock consists of six rectangular metal buoyancy tanks round afts in head and stern with two continuous seamless metal rectangular wingwalls. Buoyancy tanks are divided into 20 ballast, 6 dry and 8 non-tight compartments. In the head and in the stern there are end closing appliances – electrically actuated lift crinolines. Docking operations last not over 8 hours and period of submergence and time of ascend of the dock is not over 2 hours in total.
